Ruling party leads ahead of Japan election

Japan’s ruling LDP is most likely to retain control of parliament in an upcoming election according to a Kyodo poll. 

The country is set to vote on a new lower house on October 27 after prime minister Shigeru Ishiba dissolved parliament last week.

US to send air defence kit to Israel

The United States will deploy a sophisticated high-altitude anti-missile system to Israel to help bolster its air defences. 


The Terminal High-Altitude Area Defence — or THAAD — battery is being sent along with 100 American troops to help operate it. 


It comes after Iran launched two direct missile attacks on Israel this year.

Hundreds of people rescued following Hurricane Milton's landfall in Florida

People living in the hurricane-hit U.S. state of Florida are picking up the pieces on Friday from the devastating winds and flood-level waters.
At least 16 people are known to have died. And more than two million people are still without power.
But there have been lucky escapes - hundreds of people were rescued from the worst of Hurricane Milton.

Immigration features again on Presidential campaign trail

Former US President Donald Trump [will] today [take/]took aim at immigration as he continues to stoke fears in a bid to woo voters, with just weeks to go until Americans head to the polls in next month's election.

Another attack reported on UN peacekeeper in southern Lebanon

Another United Nations Peacekeeping facility has been hit in southern Lebanon.
Two peacekeepers were injured after two explosions occurred close to
an observation tower according to the UN.
UN peacekeepers have increasingly come under attack in Lebanon in the
past few days with the world body warning their safety is increasingly

Italy's new migrant processing facilities in Albania now operational


Italy's government has announced that its controversial new migrant processing centres in Albania are now operational.

Up to 3000 migrants will pass through the centres each month, while their applications for asylum in Italy are being processed.
