Joe Biden hails Harris and attacks Trump in convention speech

US President Joe Biden has urged Americans to "vote for freedom and democracy" in this year's election, as he passed the torch to his Vice-President in a rousing late-night address. 


Speaking at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Mr Biden touted his achievements in office and praised the party's new nominee Kamala Harris.

Former US lawmaker George Santos pleads guilty to corruption charges

Former US Representative George Santos pleaded guilty to criminal corruption charges on Monday.


The disgraced New York lawmaker appeared in a Long Island court where he admitted wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.


In a statement, prosecutors said his "flagrant and disgraceful conduct has been exposed and will be punished".


Santos could now face time behind bars.
