Diplomats from around the world are meeting in Laos for the 57th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ meeting. 


Top of the agenda is address the ongoing civil war in Myanmar and peace and stability in the South China Sea.

Heavy rain leads to flooding and disruption in Indian state of Maharashtra

Torrential rain in the western Indian state of Maharashtra over the past 24 hours has claimed at least six lives and triggered flooding.

Indian and Chinese Foreign Ministers meet at sidelines of ASEAN

More details are emerging a day after India's Foreign Minister met his Chinese counterpart at the sidelines of the ASEAN summit in Laos.

New Delhi reportedly told Beijing that there's an 'urgency' to stabilize ties between the nuclear armed neighbours.

Ties between India and China have been tense for more than four years now, after their troops clashed along a disputed frontier in the Himalayan region of Ladakh.

US Vice President Kamala Harris says the world cannot become "numb" to suffering in Gaza, speaking after meeting the Israeli prime minister.


Benjamin Netanyahu also held talks with President Joe Biden on Thursday, where they discussed ongoing efforts to secure a ceasefire deal.


He is expected to meet with former President Donald Trump on Friday - who is vying to return to the White House in November.

Biden & Netanyahu discuss ceasefire deal

US President Joe Biden has met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu at the White House - the first meeting in Washington during
Biden's presidency.

They discussed the ceasefire deal with Hamas - which although proposed
weeks ago, has not been agreed upon.

And the release of dozens of hostages still being held by Hamas.

It all comes a day after Netanyahu's controversial address to Congress
- which saw thousands of protests on the streets outside the US
Capitol.
