Trump angers NATO allies as he threatens not to protect them if they lag on defence spending

Former US president Donald Trump has angered Western allies by saying he would not protect NATO countries from Russian aggression - if they don't spend enough on defence.


During a re-election campaign rally, he said he had warned countries in the trans-Atlantic military alliance that he would "encourage" Russia to attack any Nato member that failed to meet its defence spending target of 2 percent of their gross domestic product.

Argentina's President tries to mend ties with Pope Francis on Rome visit


Argentina's President Javier Milei has been mending ties with Pope Francis during a visit to Rome, after attacking him repeatedly during last year's election campaign.

Donald Trump wins in a landslide in Nevada
