Zelensky responds to Russia's accusation that Ukraine downed jet carrying POWs

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has responded to Russia's accusation that Kyiv had downed a jet on Wednesday carrying Ukrainian prisoners of war. He said Russia was "playing with the lives of Ukrainian captives."  Kyiv has so far neither confirmed or denied it hit the plane and has called for an international investigation.

Death sentence given for Kyoto animation studio arson

A court in Japan has sentenced to death the man responsible for the 2019 arson of an animation studio that killed 36 people.

US launches fresh strikes against Houthis in Yemen

The United States has launched fresh strikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen. 

The US military destroyed two anti-ship missiles that were aimed at the Red Sea and were preparing to launch, according to American Central Command.

Russian military plane carrying 65 Ukranian POWs for exchange crashed near border
