A ballistic missile, fired by Houthi rebels, has hit a US-owned-and-operated cargo ship off the coast of Yemen.
The incident follows the US military shooting down a separate anti-ship cruise missile targeting an American destroyer vessel operating in the Southern Red Sea over the weekend.
These retaliations are the first by the Iranian-backed militants since the United States and its allies began launching strikes on Yemen in response to dozens of Houthi attacks on commercial shipping in the region.
