UK Justice Sec Announces Plans To Release Some Prisoners Early

The UK Justice Secretary has announced plans to release some prisoners in England and Wales early as part of wider reforms attempting to free up space in the overcrowded prison system. 

The government is also seeking to deport more foreign prisoners and send prisoners to serve their sentences in overseas prisons.

Nigerian Government Threatens to Sue UN Over Management of Donor Funds

India's Supreme Court says it is not its domain to allow same-sex marriages

India's Supreme Court, delivering its verdict on whether to allows same-sex marriage, said that this was a matter for parliament to decide on, and therefore it could not legalise such unions.

Biden to visit Israel on Wednesday

US chain Rite Aid files for bankruptcy

US retailer Rite Aid has filed for bankruptcy following falling sales and opioid-related lawsuits.


The pharmacy chain says it has obtained $3.45 billion in new financing as it carries out a restructuring plan.
