Disney at 100: Fairy tales and family-friendly entertainment

INTRO: The Walt Disney company is 100 years old as of Monday – marking the start by brothers Walt and Roy Disney on October 16th in 1923.

From the movies The Lion King to Pinocchio and many others,  the Disney name has become synonymous with fun entertainment for children and some adults.

Major concern for humanitarian needs as Israel continues attacks on Gaza

INTRO:

The UN's Secretary-General warned on Sunday that we are on verge of the abyss in the Middle East, as he made humanitarian appeals. 


U.S. President Joe Biden has spoken with the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to condemn the Hamas attack on Israel, but also to reiterate that the militant group does represent all Palestinian people, and their right to dignity and self-determination.

House Republicans nominate hardliner Jim Jordan for House Speaker

Putin calls on Israel, Palestine to stop bloodshed, begin negotiations

Russian President Vladimir Putin admitted Israel has right to self-defence, but stressed Palestine needs recognition as a state. Israel carries out Gaza raid to resuce hostages

The Israeli military says it has carried out a limited raid into Gaza
to try and rescue hostages held by Hamas.

Around 150 people were taken by militant fighters last Saturday,
including 14 Americans.

US President Joe Biden spoke by their families on Friday morning.

Meanwhile, Israel has given 1.1 million people living in northern Gaza
24 hours to leave ahead of an expected ground assault by Israeli
troops.

after it ordered more than 1 million Palestinians living in northern
Gaza to evacuate in the next 24 hours.

300,000 Israeli troops have massed on its borders, positioning tanks
that could roll into the Gaza Strip.

It comes almost a week after Hamas' attack killed more than 1,300 Israelis.

Microsoft completes $69bn Activision Blizzard, beating antitrust concerns

Aid groups fear impact of Gaza evacuation

NYPD on "High Alert"

New York law enforcement officials have issued a "high alert" warning

UN urges Israel to rescind northern Gaza evacuation order

The United Nations is urging Israel to rescind its order giving more than 1 million Palestinians just 24 hours to leave the north of the Gaza Strip and immediately evacuate to the territory's south.


Israeli forces are gathering for a possible ground invasion of Gaza following last week's Hamas attacks that left more than 1,300 Israelis dead.


Humanitarian organizations are warning of a massive loss of civilian life if the ground offensive goes ahead.

UK SENDING MILITARY SUPPORT TO ISRAEL

Heavy fighting around the Ukrainian town of Avdiivka, Donetsk Region

India brings back first batch of stranded Indians from Israel

Australian Man Arrested Following Scoot Bomb Threat

Police in Singapore arrested a man after allegedly making a bomb threat on a Scoot flight from the city state.
