US government forgives billions more in student debt

President Joe Biden has announced an additional $9 billion in student debt relief for 125,000 borrowers, after the US Supreme Court blocked his plan to scrap hundreds of billions of dollars of outstanding repayments.


It will bring the total approved debt cancellation by this administration to $127 billion for nearly 3.6 million Americans.

Second day of SBF trial underway in NYC

The trial against FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried continues in New York City.


Bankman-Fried faces seven criminal charges, including wire fraud and money laundering.


The 31-year-old is accused of using customers' money to fill holes in a hedge fund he set up, Alameda Research. 


Bankman Fried has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Largest ever healthcare workers strike underway

More than 75,000 unionized healthcare workers have walked off the job
in the U.S. demanding better pay and increased staffing levels.

It's the biggest strike of its kind in U.S. history with nurses and

UK PM PROPOSES CIGARETTE PHASE-OUT

The UK Prime Minister has proposed changing the minimum age people can buy cigarettes in England, in order to stop more people developing the habit.

The plan would have the minimum legal age to buy cigarettes rise by one year, every year, so that people who smoke now can continue to buy cigarettes — but eventually prevent anyone at all from purchasing them.

Trump warned over personal attacks in fraud case

The judge presiding over Donald Trump's fraud case has warned him
about making personal attacks against members of staff.

This comes after the former President posted a picture of a law clerk

Border controls in Central Europe

A deepening migration crisis in central Europe has prompted Slovakia's neighbors to impose border checks in a bid to stem the flow of illegal migrants.

The temporary measures by Austria, Poland, and the Czech Republic will last for ten days. Slovakia is also reinstating border controls along its border with Hungary.

Investigation launched into fatal Venice bus crash


Authorities in Italy have launched an investigation into a bus crash near Venice that killed at least 21 people.

The vehicle, which was carrying a group of tourists, careened off an overpass and then burst into flames after it smashed into the ground.

Part Of UK High Speed Rail Line Scrapped

It's been confirmed that part of a controversial high speed rail line in the UK has been scrapped.


The HS2 project was initially meant to link London with Manchester in North West England, but will now stop in the midlands.


The project has already cost billions of pounds, but critics argued that spending was spiralling out of control.


The opposition Labour mayor of Birmingham has accused the Government of treating those in the north of England as second class citizens.

More grain vessels are ready to sail through Black Sea shipping corridor to Ukrainian ports
