UK Foreign Secretary Defends Diplomatic Trip to China

The UK Foreign Secretary, James Cleverly, has defended his diplomatic trip to China amid criticism from MP's, including from within the governing Conservative Party. 


The trip is the first to be made by a UK Foreign Secretary to China in more than five years.

Military Officers in Gabon Announce Power Seizure from President Ali Bongo

A group of senior military officers in Gabon says they have seized power from the President, Ali Bongo.

They made the announcement on national television after Bongo's re-election to a third term in office on Saturday.

Tech leads gains on Wall St

The Nasdaq led gains on Wall Street on Tuesday, as investors bought
the dip in tech stocks.

Meta, Apple and Telsa all saw strong sales following a disappointing
month for the sector.

Florida residents warned over approaching hurricane Idalia

The US disaster management agency is warning residents in Florida to
heed warnings about the approaching hurricane.

Idalia is expected to make landfall on the Gulf Coast on Wednesday
morning in an area that has not experienced a major hurricane since
the 1800s.

Forecasters are predicting 12 foot storm surges, with Idalia
strengthening to a Category 3 storm.

The director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA,
Deanna Criswell says she's stationed teams throughout Florida, Georgia
and South Carolina.

Biden administration targets high prescription drug costs

The Biden administration has released a list of 10 prescription medications that will be part of the first-ever price negotiations by the Medicare health system that covers most older Americans.

American detained in Russia seen in rare footage

US citizen Paul Whelan, who is imprisoned in Russia on espionage charges, has made a rare appearance in a video broadcast.


Whelan was arrested in 2018 in Moscow. The US government designated him as "wrongfully detained".

China braces for fourth typhoon this year to make landfall

Japan to buy more than $100m of missiles from US

Trump Jan 6 trial set for March in Washington

Former U.S. president Donald Trump will stand trial in early March on charges of seeking to overturn the 2020 election results.
