US and UK announced “Atlantic Declaration” on PM's visit Stateside

The United States and the United Kingdom have announced an "Atlantic Declaration", described by US President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as "a new economic partnership, for a new age."


During a joint press conference in the White House on Thursday, the leaders hailed their nations' so-called "special relationship."


Yet the agreement, designed to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, falls short of a comprehensive free trade deal.

U.S. to send $150m in aid to Syria and Iraq

The United States has pledged to send 150 million dollars in aid to
areas of Syria and Iraq liberated from the Islamic State group.

Secretary of State Anthony Blinken made the announcement at a

‘Better Call Saul’ actor charged in Jan. 6th Capitol attacks

Donald Trump told he could face new criminal charges

In the U.S., federal prosecutors have sent a letter to former
President Donald Trump, telling him he is the target of a criminal
investigation — and could face charges.

Four children and two adults stabbed in playground in southern France

Four children and two adults have been injured, some seriously, after being stabbed in a playground in Annecy, in south-eastern France. Police have arrested the suspect.


President Emmanuel Macron called the attack "an act of absolute cowardice".

Three wounded in Kherson evacuation shelling

At least three people have been wounded in shelling in the Ukrainian city of Kherson. Ukrainian officials say the attack happened when people were being evacuated from areas flooded by a dam that was destroyed on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Red Cross warns that floodwater is uprooting mines in the region. Stuart Smith has more from Moscow.

Nigerian Air Force Belatedly Owns Up To Airstrike That Killed 39 Along Nasarawa-Benue Border

A report by Human Rights Watch says the Nigerian Air Force has finally taken responsibility for a fatal airstrike on Kwatiri, a community between Nasarawa and Benue states in north central Nigeria.


The organisation says its investigations confirmed 39 persons were killed and six others injured in the airstrike that occurred on 24th January.

Pope Francis recovering in hospital after surgery


The Vatican says Pope Francis' first night in hospital - after an operation on Wednesday - "went well."

In the latest in a string of recent hospital visits, the 86-year-old was placed under general anaesthetic for surgery to repair a hernia.

Top Indian Wrestlers to Suspend Protests Till June 15th

A group of top wrestlers in India have temporarily suspended protests against the country's wrestling federation chief following a meeting with the federal sports minister.

Brij Bhushan Singh - who is also a lawmaker in India - is accused of sexually harassing at least seven female wrestlers. 

Mr. Singh has been accused of at least 15 incidents of molestation and other forms of sexual harassment.

India's Foreign Minister accuses China of trying to coerce India

India's Foreign Minister has accused Beijing of trying to coerce its neighbour on the border issue.

For three years now, India and China have been engaged in a border stand-off in eastern Ladakh. While China claims the border is generally stable, India maintains that it is not and that ties with Beijing are 'abnormal'.

India and China fought a war over border differences in 1962 and disagreements over the frontier that is mostly unmarked are common but this is the most tense bilateral ties have been in sixty years.

India's Foreign Minister Dr S Jaishankar says China is the only exception in a long list of countries with which India has pushed for expanded bilateral ties.

Blinken Eyes Possible Talks with Xi Jinping in Beijing
