Several People Dead as Landslides Hit Eastern Uganda

Several people are feared dead in Eastern Uganda following a landslide that was triggered by heavy rains.

The Uganda Red Cross says five bodies have so far been retrieved from mud while several are still missing.

Two cheetah cubs die in India raising concerns about conservation plans

Two more Cheetahs cubs have died in India's Kuno National Park where a multi-million-dollar conservation effort is underway.

 A total of three cubs have died due to extreme weather conditions so far.

British Airways has cancelled more than 100 flights at Heathrow because of an IT problem.

Stocks boost thanks to Nvidia earnings

U.S. stocks were given a boost Thursday thanks to a strong earnings
report from chip maker Nvidia.

But a fast-approaching debt-ceiling deadline continues to unsettle investors.

Biden says progress being made in debt ceiling talks

US President Joe Biden says he believes a deal will be reached to raise the country's debt ceiling saying the two sides have made progress  - but negotiations continue.


Republicans want to roll back government spending but President Biden and Democrats do not.


The credit rating agency Fitch has put the US on rating watch negative, reflecting the uncertainty around the possibility of a first-ever default.


President Biden reiterated that the only way to move forward is to find a bipartisan agreement.

Oath Keeper leader sentenced to 18 years over Capitol riot

The leader of the far-right Oath Keepers militia group has been sentenced to eighteen years in prison over his role in the January 6th insurrection at the US Capitol.

Events are being held across the United States to mark the third anniversary of the death of George Floyd, which sparked protests across the globe.

UN Pledges $2.4 billion For Horn of Africa

The United Nations has announced a US$2.4 billion pledge to provide life-saving and life-sustaining assistance for nearly 32 million people across the Horn of Africa.

RUSSIA SIGNS OFF TACTICAL NUCLEAR WEAPONS TRANSFER TO BELARUS

S Korean team concludes ALPs inspection
