FRESH DOCTORS' STRIKES IN ENGLAND, NURSES VOTE

Fresh doctors' strikes have been announced in England as a long-running industrial dispute continues.

Junior doctors will walk out for 72 hours from June 14th having rejected the latest pay offers from the government.

Meanwhile nurses are voting again on whether to continue their industrial action - also over pay and conditions.

Patricia Marquis from the Royal College of Nursing says it could go further than previous walkouts.

After days of uneasy calm violence flares up in India's Manipur

Mixed close on Wall Street as debt ceiling talks continue

U.S. stocks closed mixed Monday as traders wait to see whether
lawmakers can reach a deal on the debt ceiling.

Washington could default on its debt as early as June 1st and analysts
say that would be disastrous for the country's economy.

Biden & McCarthy set to meet for debt limit talks

US President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy are set to meet on Monday afternoon, after negotiations on increasing the US debt limit stalled.


They remain at odds over budget cuts demanded by the Republicans as a condition for raising the ceiling.

Nirvana guitar fetches $600 thousand at a New York auction

In the 1990s Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain smashed his electric guitar,

More U.S. debt crisis talks planned ahead of June 1 deadline for default


U.S. President Biden is holding another round of face-to-face talks on Monday to resolve the debt crisis.
He raced back from G7 meetings in Japan to restart negotiations with members of the Republican leadership including House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
