Devastating Cyclone Mocha Batters States in India

One of the strongest storms to ever hit Myanmar has left a train of destruction in its wake.

Cyclone Mocha brought wind speeds of almost 250 kmph, devastating a number of countries.

In India, 9 deaths have been reported in the state of West Bengal.

FRESH AIR STRIKES ACROSS UKRAINE

Air raid sirens have been sounding across much of Ukraine - with several explosions in the capital, Kyiv.

It follows President Zelensky's trip to visit several western allies in recent days, receiving pledges of further military support.

And it comes ahead of an anticipated counter-offensive by Ukraine against Russian forces.

China tries to boost birthrate amid ageing population

China is experimenting with new ways to encourage women to marry and have more children. The population shrank last year for the first time since the early 1960s, and the very low birth rate is causing concerns over how to support the ageing population.

78-year-old US citizen jailed for life in China over spying charges

Cambodia Bars Sole Opposition Party from July Elections

Pressure mounting on G7 host Japan over LGBT rights

Japan is coming under mounting international pressure to improve LGBT rights ahead of this week's G7 summit in Hiroshima.

FBI criticized over Trump investigation in new report

The FBI's probe into alleged ties between Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and Russia has come under heavy criticism in a new report.

However the new investigation  - carried out by a special counsel appointed by Trump's attorney general William Barr - has only resulted in only one conviction.

Debt-ceiling dominates sentiment on Wall Street

There were gains on Wall Street Monday as traders wait for the next
round of debt ceiling talks.

Congressman's staffers attacked with baseball bat

A man looking for a US congressman has allegedly attacked two of his staffers with a metal baseball bat at his district office.


Virginia democrat representative Gerry Connolly said his staff were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Vice Media files for bankruptcy

Vice Media has filed for bankruptcy to facilitate its sale to a group of lenders.

Turkey's presidential candidates to face run-off vote

Turkey will hold a run-off presidential election after Sunday's vote failed to produce a conclusive winner.

With most of the votes counted, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received just shy of the 50% threshold for an outright victory.
