India may have already overtaken China to become the world's most populous nation.

Estimates from the World Population Review reveal that India's population stood at 1.417 billion at the end of 2022.

UNSC: Russia accuses Ukraine of religious persecution

The United Nations Security Council held another meeting on Ukraine on Tuesday,
to discuss allegations by Russia that Ukraine is attempting to
"destroy" the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Dow drops sharply on bank earnings

Nigeria's Inflation Falls For First Time After 10 Months of Increases

Nigeria's inflation dipped in December to 21.34 per cent from 21.47 per cent in November after 10 straight monthly increases, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).


The drop in the inflation rate comes as the Central Bank's Monetary Policy Committee prepares to meet for the first time this year.


At the meeting, scheduled for next week, the MPC as part of efforts to tame inflation would decide on interest rates in Africa's largest economy.

UK WAGES RISE BELOW INFLATION RATE

UK wages are rising at their fastest in over two decades, according to new data, but still behind inflation.

Regular pay rose 6.4% on an annual basis between September and November.

The statistics also show 467,000 working days lost were lost due to strikes in November 2022, which is the highest number in more than a decade.
