The US energy giant ExxonMobil is suing the European Union in a bid to stop the bloc's new windfall tax on oil firms.
The EU's Commission earlier this year announced an emergency plan for major fossil fuel companies to pay a "crisis contribution" on their record profits accrued in light of supply concerns following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
