Lawmakers in Scotland are due to decide whether to make it easier for people to change their legally recognised gender.
The final vote was delayed after debates in the Scottish Parliament overran on Wednesday.
The Gender Recognition Reform Scotland Bill removes the need for a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria in order to receive a gender recognition certificate.
It also lowers the minimum age for applicants from 18 to 16 and reduces the time required for people to live in their acquired gender to three months.
It's one of the most controversial bills in Holyrood in decades, as Sally Patterson reports.
