Fresh economic data stokes recession fears

U.S. stocks lost ground Thursday off the back of some mixed pieces of
economic data.

The Federal Reserve has vowed tough action in a bid to cool inflation
but some analysts fear that could drag the U.S. economy into
recession.

American railroad strike averted by last-gasp deal

Major US railroads and unions have secured a deal to avert a rail shutdown that could have hit food and fuel supplies across the country.


President Joe Biden called the tentative labour agreement — reached following 20 hours of intense talks brokered by his administration — "an important win for the American people" that will "avoid disruption of our economy" through a devastating strike before the pivotal Midterm elections in November.

Xi, Putin hold first face-to-face talks since invasion of Ukraine

Xi and Putin hold meeting in Uzbekistan

Floods: Over 300 People Killed In Nigeria in 2022

Woman arrested in S Korea over bodies of children found in suitcases in NZ
