Floods: Over 300 People Killed In Nigeria in 2022

INTRO


The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says more than 300 people have so far been killed in flood disasters across Nigeria in 2022.

 

The Director General of NEMA, Mustapha Ahmed, who disclosed in Abuja said over 50 flood disaster alerts were received by the agency on a daily basis, with more than 100 communities affected.

Woman arrested in S Korea over bodies of children found in suitcases in NZ

A 42-year-old woman has been arrested in South Korea for the alleged murder of two children whose bodies were discovered in suitcases bought at an auction in New Zealand.

She is now facing extradition to New Zealand, where she will face charges of murder.

Stocks recover after huge selloff

Biden hails EV investment ahead of midterms

France extends energy price cap into 2023

France will limit energy price rises to 15 percent next year, as the government battles to control the explosion of costs and supply issues affecting Europe's energy market.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is on day two of his first trip abroad since the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. President Xi is in Uzbekistan for the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.


The group includes core members Russia, China, India, Pakistan and the Central Asian states -- partners include Turkey and Iran.

The summit is seen as a landmark event, as the group of leaders gathers for talks for the first time since Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

CSTO MILITARY ALLIANCE CHIEF HEADING TO ARMENIA

Armenia has been granted a degree of military support from the CSTO alliance, after an attack by Azerbaijan earlier in the week.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan invoked Article 4 of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation — a military alliance dubbed the NATO of post-Soviet states — which allows one member to request the help of the others.
