US growth figures spark recession fears

The US economy shrank last quarter in the strongest sign yet that the
country is in a recession.

Analysts say growth is stalling because of rising inflation and higher
interest rates.

Baltics call on US to step up troop presence

The presidents of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia have called on the United States to increase its military presence in the Baltics.

Militants kill at least 15 soldiers, several civilians in coordinated Mali attacks


At least 15 government soldiers in Mali have been killed in a coordinated attack linked to terrorists in the south-west of the country.

US makes "substantial offer" to Russian over prisoner swap

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has revealed that the United States has proposed a prisoner swap with Russia in an effort to secure the release of two American detained in Moscow.


Businessman Paul Whelan and women's basketball star Britney Griner may be traded for a Russian arms dealer serving a 25 year sentence in the US.
