QUEEN MISSING THANKSGIVING SERVICE

Britain's Queen Elizabeth is missing a service of Thanksgiving at st Paul's Cathedral after experiencing 'discomfort' during Thursday's Jubilee celebrations.

The service is being held on Friday to mark her 70 years on the British throne.

Her son Prince Andrew is also missing it due to testing positive for covid-19.

Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby was due to host the event at St Paul's but is not attending because of coronavirus.

But he says he's glad it's being held in her honour.

US government report flags alleged attacks on minorities in India

The US state department in its annual report on international religious freedom alleges that in India attacks on members of minority communities took place throughout 2021.


The report says that the incidents included killings and intimidation.

U.S. President due to visit Riyadh, to tackle rising energy prices at home

President Biden is planning to visit Saudi Arabia at the end of the month, in a bid to fix relations with the oil-rich nation, and lower gas prices in the U.S.

Relations between Washington and Riyadh were rocked by the assasination of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, who was killed by Saudis in Istanbul in 2018.

Crowds flock to Buckingham Palace for Platinum Jubilee

Celebrations are underway in central London to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.


Crowds gathered outside Buckingham Palace to mark 70 years of Queen Elizabeth's reign - making her the longest serving monarch in British history.


The UK is marking the occasion with a special four-day public holiday.


On Thursday, a procession saw parading soldiers, horses and musicians come together to mark the Queen's birthday - known as Trooping the Colour.


People travelled from across the country, and around the world, to join the events, with some even camping overnight.

Biden to address nation, urge Congressional action on guns after latest attack in Tulsa

President Biden is urging Congressional action to tighten America's gun laws.


He'll address Americans on Thursday night, after yet another mass shooting…this time at a hospital In Tulsa, Oklahoma.


Four people were killed before a gunman bearing a grudge against the hospital and brandishing an AR 15 assault rifle also killed himself.

Disgruntled patient kills doctor, 3 others at Oklahoma hospital

Police say a shooting at a Tusla, Oklahoma medical center on Wednesday night is a case of a disgruntled patient going after his doctor.

Five people - including the gunman - were killed in the mass shooting.

This latest rampage comes as the nation continues to grapple with mass shootings in Uvalde, Texas and Buffalo, New York.

More US sanctions on Russia

The White House has announced fresh sanctions on Russia in an effort to further punish Moscow for its invasion of Ukraine and crackdown on attempts to evade existing penalties.

US announces largest cancellation of federal student debt in history

The United States is automatically cancelling all remaining federal student loans owed by more than a half million former students. 


The $5.8 billion worth of loan forgiveness for those who attended a now-defunct network of schools called Corinthian Colleges is the single largest discharge of student debt by the government in history, according to the Department of Education.

UGANDA-DRC MILITARY OPERATION

EU holds upgraded trade dialogue with Taiwan
