UN Report: Climate change worse than thought

The United Nation's latest climate assessment is absolutely grim.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says many of the impacts of global warming are now simply "irreversible" and that it is getting harder and harder for nature - and humans - to adapt.

US immobilises Russian Central bank assets held in US

The US government has made more moves to cut off Russia from the global economy as it continues its invasion of Ukraine. 


The Treasury department has immobilized Russian Central Bank assets that are held in the US and imposed sanctions on the Russian Direct Investment Fund, a sovereign wealth fund that is run by a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

EU plots next steps in response to Russian invasion of Ukraine

European Union officials and ministers are following up on plans to purchase lethal arms for the Ukrainian army announced on Sunday. 

The never-before-seen move is part of the bloc's broader response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Rescue efforts continue as more than 16,000 Indian still stuck in Ukraine

A fifth flight carrying more than 250 Indians from Ukraine landed in Delhi on Monday.

Japan considers sanctions on top Belarusian officials

Japan is considering imposing sanctions on Belarusian officials over the Ukraine crisis.

Hong Kong ramps up testing in a bid to curb COVID-19 outbreak

The Hong Kong government is handing out tens of thousands of COVID-19 testing kits to the public in a bid to find more hidden transmission chains in the community. Hong Kong registered a record high 26 thousand coronavirus cases on Sunday, and 83 deaths.

White House accuses Putin of escalating crisis after latest nuclear threat

The White House is accusing Russia of escalating the crisis in Ukraine after President Vladimir Putin put his country's nuclear deterrence troops on standby.


The first talks between Russia and Ukraine are due to take place later today, but the European Union and the US have unveiled additional sanctions measures in a bid to cripple Russia's economy.

EU closes airspace to Russian planes

INTRO:

Russian airlines will be almost completely banned from flying west over Europe in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

This is the latest of a series of measures that have been taken by the EU in response to the crisis, and follows the decision announced on Saturday to block Russian banks from the SWIFT payments system.

Russia vetos UN Security Council resolution condemning invasion, China abstains

Russia has vetoed a UN Security Council resolution that would have condemned its aggressive military attack on Ukraine.

China, India, and the United Arab Emirates abstained, while the remaining 11 members voted in favor.

Russia bans British Airways from operating in its airspace

Biden expected to announce Supreme Court pick

F1 bosses cancel Russian Grand Prix

The impact of Russian invasion of Ukraine has had a massive impact on the sporting world.


UEFA is the governing body of European football and has moved May's Champions League final from Russia to France.


It said that holding the game in St Petersburgh, following the Russian assault was 'untenable'


And now F1 has cancelled the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi later this year.


Its bosses said that they were watching the situation in Ukraine with 'sadness and shock'.
