India's COVID-19 cases spike with every other person testing positive in South Indian state Kerala

Hong Kong authorities condemn efforts to save hamsters from COVID cull

The Hong Kong government says police may take action against groups who are trying to undermine efforts to carry out a mass cull of hamsters in the city.  Health authorities ordered the cull after hamsters in a pet shop were found to be the source of a recent Covid-19 outbreak.

Former Pope Benedict accused of failing to act over historic sex abuse allegations

Blinken says NATO allies united in severe response to further Russian aggression in Ukraine

Blinken vows "swift, severe" response to Russian invasion of Ukraine

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is vowing a "swift and severe" response to any Russian invasion of Ukraine.


He was speaking in Berlin, hours after President Biden at a White House press conference suggested that a low-level incursion by Russian forces might not incur a full-scale western response.


The White House moved quickly to suggest that the President's comments were misinterpreted, but today Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky said on Twitter that he wanted "to remind great nations that there are no minor incursions".


Meeting European allies in Berlin, Mr. Blinken renewed America's vow to lead a united international response to any Russian aggression.
