Nigeria gets WHO certification to produce vaccines


Nigeria's Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, also known as NAFDAC, says the country has been certified by the World Health Organisation for the production of vaccines including for COVID-19.

US sails warship through Taiwan Strait in first such move since Biden-Xi summit

A US warship sailed through waters separating Taiwan and China on Tuesday, according to the American navy.

The move represents the first such passage through the Taiwan Strait since a virtual summit earlier this month, between the leaders of the US and China.


At that summit, US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping traded warnings over Taiwan.

Uganda Arrests 106 Terror Suspects

Uganda has intensified surveillance operations along its borders as a measure  against terror threats in the country.

Over 100 people have so far been arrested since bomb explosions went off in the capital Kampala a week ago. Four people were killed and 37 injured, most of them police officers.

Daily infections in India dip to a 500 day low

India's reported just over 7500 new COVID19 cases in the last 24 hours.  

This is the lowest number of confirmed cases in a single day in a year and a half despite huge festival gatherings in recent weeks.

BULGARIA BUS CRASH KILLS DOZENS

At least 45 people have been killed in a bus crash in Bulgaria.

The bus is thought to have been carrying tourists returning to North Macedonia from Turkey when it crashed and caught fire south-west of the Bulgarian capital.

A number of children are known to have died.

Jury finds Kyle Rittenhouse not guilty on all charges
