News that lawmakers have reached a debt ceiling ceiling gave the U.S.

TANZANIA NOBEL PRIZE WINNER

Tanzanian novelist Abdulrazak Gurnah has been awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize for Literature, The prize is awarded by the Swedish Academy and is worth $1.14 million dollars. He is the first African to win the award which is considered the most prestigious in world literature in almost two decades.

WSJ Report: US forces secretly in Taiwan

US forces have been secretly operating in Taiwan for at least a year according to reporting in the Wall Street Journal.

Australia – Lockdown changes loom as vaccination rates reached.

The Premier of the Australian state of New South Wales has revealed changes to the state's roadmap out of Covid lockdown - for those who are fully vaccinated.

Biden and Xi "to hold virtual summit", even as tensions grow over Taiwan

US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping have struck an "agreement in principle" to host a virtual face-to-face summit meeting later this year.


The agreement was reached in talks on Wednesday between US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and top Chinese diplomat Yiang Jiechi (PRON:  YANG  CHEE-CHUH).


White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki says details of the virtual summit have yet to be finalized.
