Biden Praises "extraordinary courage" of George Floyd's family

US President Joe Biden has praised the "extraordinary courage" of George Floyd's family after meeting them privately at the White House to mark the first anniversary of his killing.

Mr Biden also called for action on police reform, after Congress failed to meet a deadline to pass the George Floyd Act by this one-year mark.

Reports: Grand Jury convened to consider criminal case against Trump

Prosecutors in New York have convened a grand jury to decide whether there is sufficient evidence to prosecute former President Donald Trump or members of his inner circle.


The news was broken by the Washington Post and is the latest evidence that the former President is in legal jeopardy.

US planning first offshore wind farms off California coast

US health secretary calls for independent investigation into source of coronavirus

U.S. Health Secretary Xavier Becerra has called for a follow-up investigation into the origins of the coronavirus pandemic, amid renewed debate over whether the virus first emerged in the wild or accidentally escaped from a lab.

Biden-Putin summit confirmed for Geneva, June 16

The White House has announced that President Biden's first face-to-face summit meeting with President Vladimir Putin of Russia will take place in Geneva in the middle of next month.


The meeting will come at the end of Joe Biden's first foreign trip as President to the G7 summit in Cornwall and then to NATO in Brussels.

UK government issues new Covid-19 advice to eight areas worst impacted by variant first found in India

New advisory measures have been given to 8 areas in the UK where the Coronavirus variant first discovered in India is spreading fastest.
