US birthrate falls to lowest level in more than 40 years

The birthrate in the United States has fallen to its lowest level since 1979.

Analysts say it's partly down to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Trump will remain suspended, but Oversight Board tells Facebook it's got 6 months to decide his fate

Former US President Donald Trump will not be allowed to return to Facebook or Instagram, at least for the moment.


Facebook's Oversight Board has ruled that the President's posts "severely violated" the platform's rules, but it also criticizes the company.

Facebook continues Trump ban on site

Facebook has announced it will keep a ban in place for former US
president Donald Trump for another six months.

His account was suspended in January for breaking the platform's
"glorification of violence" rules following posts he made about the

Covid scare at G7 meeting in London

India's entire delegation to this week's G7 meeting in the UK has been forced into self-isolation after at least two of them tested positive for Covid-19. 


Although it's not a G7 member, India was invited to attend the first face-to-face convening of the group's foreign ministers in more than two years.

UK FUNDS TESTING ON COVID-19 VARIANT VACCINES

The UK's announced new funding to fast-track the development of vaccines that can respond to new Covid-19 variants.

An extra £30 million will go to testing facilities at Britain's Porton Down research laboratory, and vaccine manufacturing capabilities.

It'll mean scientists can test 3000 blood samples each week to assess how different vaccines produce protective antibodies against strains of coronavirus.

Hong Kong set to allow resumption of UK arrivals

Biden announces plan to get more Americans vaccinated, amid skepticism

Mexican President promises full investigation into metro crash that killed at least 23

Mexico's President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador says he'll launch a full inquiry into last night's deadly accident involving a metro train in Mexico City.

France approves wide-ranging climate bill

France's National Assembly has approved a wide-ranging climate change bill that will prevent future airport expansions, prohibit open-air terrace heaters and reduce packaging waste.
