Dutch judge rules coronavirus curfew must be lifted 'immediately'

The curfew in the Netherlands must be lifted immediately, according to a new ruling by a judge in The Hague. 

The ruling to lift the coronavirus curfew is effective immediately, but the Dutch government has indicated it will appeal.

Prisoners on Hunger strike in Ethiopi

Intro 

A court in Ethiopia has allowed prisoners who were on hunger strike to be taken to a private hospital after medical personnel said their situation was deteriorating.

 

The prisoners are from the Oromo Federalist Congress,  an opposition party from the Prime Minister's ethnic group that has openly challenged his rule.

 

Over 20 leaders were arrested last year after being accused of inciting violence among other charges.

TANZANIA ON HIGH ALERT OVER EBOLA

Tanzania has announced that it is on high alert following an Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to Kigoma Regional medical officer Dr. Simon Chacha, the country has strengthened testing around the borders and at its ports of entry.

Rapid Covid-19 tests to be offered to all German citizens

The German Government has announced a major change to its national coronavirus testing strategy, promising to expand the use to rapid tests to help end lockdown.

ALEXEI NAVALNY BACK IN COURT

Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny is back in court for slander charges against a World War Two veteran.

He's already been sentenced to nearly three years in prison on separate charges.

If found guilty of this second charge, which he calls politically motivated, he could face a further two years in prison.

UK TO 'DOUBLE' VACCINATION RATE

The UK government says it's confident it can vaccinate 17 million more people by the end of April.

It's moving on to giving first doses of covid-19 jabs to all those over 50 and with underlying health conditions.

It comes after the government hit its target of offering a vaccine to 15 million people in the top four priority groups by Monday.

The next phase of the rollout will also see millions of people receiving second doses.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is due to set out a 'roadmap' for easing lockdown measures next Monday.

SIXTY DIE IN DRC BOAT ACCIDENT

Pelosi announces 9/11 style inquiry into Capitol riot

U.S. sees an overall drop in coronavirus cases amid fears over mutant strains

A number of U.S. states are loosening coronavirus restrictions, amid a pick-up in the pace of vaccinations and a slowing of the spread.
