US jobless claims show Covid-19 still hurting economy

A further 850,000 Americans have registered as unemployed in the last week.

The figure is more than four times higher than pre-pandemic levels.

Brokers restrict GameStop trading amid buying frenzy

A number of Wall Street brokers have taken steps to restrict the
trading of GameStop stocks after concerns its price was being

U.S. posts biggest annual economic contraction since 1946

The U.S. economy shrank by 3.5 percent last year marking its worst
annual performance since World War Two.

German regulator blocks use of Astrazeneca vaccine for over 65s

UK gvt promises "no interruption" to vaccines supply amid EU-AstraZeneca row

EU demands AstraZeneca supplies from UK plants

The EU has held a third round of crisis talks with AstraZeneca, demanding that all obligations for vaccine supplies are met. 

The bloc had signed a deal for 400million shots of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, but has been told just a quarter of what was promised will be delivered in the first quarter.
