UK Bans Arrivals From All Of South America

The UK has banned all arrivals from South America, because of a new COVID variant that originated in Brazil.


The virus mutation appears to be more infectious, but isn't thought to make people more ill.

Twitter Head Defends Trump Ban

Twitter's CEO Jack Dorsey says he believes banning US president Donald Trump was the right decision, but called it a result of the social network failing to promote healthy conversation.

Twitter and several other social networks have shut down the President's accounts in the wake of the violence at the US Capital.

U.S. Jobless claims hit highest level since August

The U.S. has seen a spike in weekly jobless claims as Covid-19
continues to impact the country's labor market.

965,000 people filed for first-time unemployment benefits last week.
That's the highest figure seen since August.

90,000 Americans could die from coronavirus in next three weeks

It's being projected that more than 90,000 people in the US will die

New rules for international travelers to England delayed

New rules aimed at reducing Covid-19 infections from abroad have been delayed by officials in England.


All passengers must have had a recent negative test result before being allowed to travel to the UK.


But the measures won't now come into effect until Monday the 18th of January.

UK Covid study shows immunity -- but protection not absolute

Most people who have had Covid-19 are protected from catching it again for several months at least, according to a study led by Public Health England shows.

MOSCOW EXTENDS RESTRICTIONS BUT WILL OPEN SCHOOLS

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin is extending Covid-19 restrictions for a further week, while epidemiologists make a judgement about the trend of infection.

President Trump faces Senate Trial after Historic Second Impeachment

He's been charged with "incitement of insurrection" following last Wednesday's storming of the US Capitol by his supporters.

Trump condemns violence in video released after historic second impeachment
