EU presses ahead with plans for $4billion in tariffs on US imports

The election of Joe Biden to the White House has been welcome in Europe…. but nonetheless, the EU has announced it is pushing ahead with plans to impose tariffs on up to $4billion on US imports. 

The tariffs are in retaliation to the US awarding illegal subsidies to the American airline manufacturer Boeing.

Covid-19 vaccine more than 90 percent effective

Pfizer has announced that its Covid-19 vaccine appears to be more than
90 percent effective.

The drugmaker says there appear to be no major safety issues and plans
to seek emergency use authorization in the U.S. later this month.

At least 50 people die as Nigeria battles yellow fever, amid coronavirus


Nigerian health authorities say an outbreak of yellow fever in the country has claimed more than 50 lives in the past two months.

Brexit talks resume in London to end stalemate

Talks between the UK and EU are continuing in London, to try and end the deadlock in Brexit negotiations.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has still not commented on the result of the US election, which resulted in a Joe Biden victory.

Putin's spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, says they will wait for the official result to be finalised before commenting on its outcome.

The President-elect, Joe Biden, has an insurmountable lead ahead of incumbent Donald Trump. 

But President Trump is pursuing action in the courts over unsubstantiated claims of electoral fraud.

EU insists it will not do a deal "at any price" as Brexit talks get underway in London

Brexit trade talks are resuming again in London on Monday at the start of another crunch week for negotiations between the EU and the UK.

Hong Kong continues its fight against US "Made in China" deadline
