Hong Kong slams Germany over reports of asylum offer

The Hong Kong government is condemning Germany for reportedly granting refugee status to a Hong Kong activist facing a riot charge over her involvement in protests in the city last year. The university student said she chose to flee Hong Kong because of fears she wouldn't be given a fair trial.

US Approves Arms Sales to Taiwan

Lagos governor denies ordering the shooting of protesters, visits victims



The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has blamed the shooting of protesters at its Lekki toll gate on Tuesday evening on forces beyond his control. UK BORROWING SURGES

UK government borrowing surged again in September to its third-highest monthly level since records begain.

Borrowing rose £28.4 billion ($36bn) compared with the same month last year as the government spent heavily to support the economy during the covid-19 pandemic.
