Oxycontin maker pleads guilty and will pay $8 billion for role in US opioid crisis (wrap)

The manufacturer of powerful prescription painkiller, Oxycontin, has agreed to plead guilty to three federal criminal charges for its role in creating the nation's opioid crisis. 


Purdue Pharma will pay more than eight billion dollars and close down the company.
