US to Withdraw from World Health Organization

U.S. government gives Novavax $1.6 billion to speed up COVID-19 vaccine development


The U.S. government is giving the vaccine firm Novavax $1.6 billion to speed up its development of a vaccine for COVID-19.

It's the largest deal to come out of the Trump administration's "Operation Warp Speed" so far.

Lawyers say Johnny Depp newspaper assault allegations are 'complete lies'

It's a "complete lie" to claim that Johnny Depp was violent towards ex-wife Amber Heard, according to his lawyers during a trial at the High Court in London.


The American actor is suing News Group Newspapers, the publisher of The Sun, and the British tabloid's Executive Editor Dan Wootton, over an April 2018 article that referred to him as a "wife beater."

ENGLAND COVID-19 DEATHS FALL FOR TENTH CONSECUTIVE WEEK

For the tenth successive week, the number of people dying with coronavirus in England has fallen.

Just over 600 hundred people died in the last full week of June.

That puts the official death toll past 50,000 since the pandemic began, although latest figures show it's probably greater than 55,000.

Eastern DR Congo War Crimes

EU predicts deeper recession than previous forecasts, with slower recovery

The EU Commission has slashed its economic forecast, as the coronavirus takes its toll on the bloc's 27 economies.

PUBS CLOSE IN ENGLAND AFTER COVID-19 CASES

Several pubs in England are closing their doors - just days after reopening - because of positive tests for coronavirus.

Pubs in Somerset, West Yorkshire and Gosport are now contacting customers who came through their doors over the weekend.

Bars and restaurants in England were allowed to reopen with strict conditions in place, after having been closed since March.

Rebels Kill 11 People in North East DR Congo

At least 11 people have been killed in an attack by rebels in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
