UK refuses extension to Brexit transition period
The UK has confirmed it will not seek an extension of the Brexit transition period, due to end at the end of the year.
On Friday, British cabinet minister reiterated Downing Street's refusal after talks with EU leaders in the second UK-EU Joint Committee meeting.

UK GDP slumped by 20.4% in April according to new figures - by far the biggest monthly fall on record.
The ONS data comes from the first full month of lockdown restrictions in the UK.
Over the three months from February to April, output declined 10.4%.
