MEDICS FACING "LIFE-THREATENING" SHORTAGE OF EQUIPMENT IN UK

Medics in the UK are calling for more personal protective equipment to treat coronavirus patients amid claims that major hospitals are facing "life-threatening shortages." 

The number of people who have died from Covid-19 in the UK now stands at over 1000, with more than 22 thousand cases.

Uganda Tightens Movement of People To Slow Down Spread of COVID-19

SUGGESTED LEAD

Uganda has banned the use of private vehicles as well as put in place a dusk to dawn curfew as the country ramps up measures to bring down COVID-19 cases.

The country had earlier closed its borders, stopped international flights as well as all forms of social gatherings as the coronavirus cases hit over 30.

UK POLICE URGED TO BE 'CONSISTENT' OVER DISTANCING ENFORCEMENT

British police officers are being urged to be 'consistent' and use 'common sense' when helping enforce the country's coronavirus lockdown.

Some police forces have faced criticism for being over-zealous, with examples of walkers being followed by drone, and shoppers questioned over the purchasing of Easter eggs.

Police have new powers to fine people who don't observe social distancing directions.

But the National Police Chiefs' Council is recommending a 'consistent' approach and a uniform 'style and tone' up and down the UK.

EU to scrutinise 'unlimited powers' granted to PM Viktor Orbàn in Hungary

Hungary's parliament has endorsed a bill giving Prime Minister Viktor Orban "unlimited powers" he says he needs to fight COVID-19.

Hungary, an EU member state, outlines an indefinite state of emergency and jail terms of up to five years for anyone spreading "fake news."

The bill will further inflame tensions with the European Union, which last year started proceedings against the country with concern about the rule of law.

Ghana lockdowns Accra and other parts of the country to curb spread of COVID-19

Number of Covid 19 patients crosses the 1000 mark in India, PM Modi apologises to the poor

Nigeria's President orders lockdown of 3 states including Federal Capital Territory

Badly hit European countries hope to see COVID-19 turnaround due to lockdown measures

Lockdown measures in Spain have been tightened as the death toll hits a new record. 

All non-essential workers will be confined to their homes until April 9th, on top of further restrictions imposed on March 14th. 

Italy has seen the third fall in its death toll, but passed the 10,000 death milestone over the weekend.
