ROW OVER CONSTRUCTION WORKERS AMID UK LOCKDOWN


Pressure's growing on the UK government to stop construction workers heading to building sites during the coronavirus outbreak.

Ministers say builders are among those who can still go to to work as long as they practice social distancing.

But many say that's almost impossible on site.

An effective lockdown of the country was announced on Monday but some employees are still being asked to go into work.

Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick says employers should be sticking to health guidance during this time.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi imposes a country wide lockdown to contain coronavirus

A 21-day country-wide lockdown has begun in India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Tuesday night to announce the new measures.

This lockdown aims to stop coronavirus from further spreading. India has reported more than 500 confirmed cases of Covid-19, the death toll has risen to 11.

NY Governor makes furious plea for more ventilators

The Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, has made an emotional to President Trump to provide the state with an additional 30 thousand ventilators to deal with the coronavirus crisis.


He says that so far he's received only 400 of them.

2020 OLYMPICS POSTPONED

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics are being postponed for a year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

They were due to start on 24th July, and it's the first time the Games have ever been postponed.

Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says the International Olympic Committee has agreed to the one year delay.

Italy warns true coronavirus number could be 10 times higher than official figures

Europe continues to adjust to life under lockdown, as the death toll in Spain begins to surpass that of Italy.

Spain has reported 514 in a single day, with 6000 new infections. 

Italy's civil protection agency says the country may 10 times more cases of coronavirus than officially recorded.

Russia to track infected patients

UK IN LOCKDOWN

The UK is in its first full day of an effective lockdown to try and slow the spread of coronavirus.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the move in a national address.

People are being directed to stay home - and should only leave for very limited purposes.

Restrictions will be in place for three weeks at least.

Uganda Confirms Eight New Cases of COVID-19

Uganda has confirmed  eight new cases of COVID-19 bringing the total number of  cases in the country to nine.


The Ministry of Health says all the nine cases are all imported and came into the country from Dubai.

Moon to double aid package for struggling businesses
