China confirms US visit next week

It's official. China has confirmed that top negotiators will travel to Washington early next week to sign the phase one trade deal with the United States. This comes two weeks after President Trump said the agreement would be signed on Jan 15th.  Toni Waterman has more from Washington.

U.S. Officials Reportedly Believe Ukrainian Passenger Jet Shot Down By Iran

U.S. officials reportedly believe that the Ukrainian jetliner, which crashed Wednesday killing all 176 people onboard, was shot down by Iranian missiles.  U.S. satellites reportedly detected two surface-to-air missile launches, shortly before the plane went down.

UK MPs give backing to Brexit Bill

The British House of Commons has passed the Brexit bill, which would see the UK formally leave the European Union at the end of this month. The EU Withdrawal Bill was voted for by 330 MPs, with 231 voting against.

US Intelligence: crashed Ukrainian Airlines plane struck by 2 Iranian missiles

US President Donald Trump has indicated that he believes a Ukrainian Airlines jet that crashed in Tehran in the early hours of Tuesday morning may have been mistakenly shot down by Iranian missiles.


All 176 people aboard the jet died in the crash, which the Iranians have blamed on a technical malfunction.

South African Plane Crash

A South African military plane crash-landed at an airport in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo with 59 UN peacekeepers onboard.

The Spokesperson of the UN Peacekeeping Mission says no one was injured. Aviation experts are trying to establish the cause of the crash. Chris Ocamringa has more from Kinshasa.

Mass demonstration planned as nationwide strike hits France

US OFFERS IRAN TALKS

The US says it would take part in 'serious negotiations' with Iran 'without preconditions' to try and safeguard international peace.

The offer's been made in a letter to the United Nations, but Iran says it's 'unbelievable' for the US to make such an offer after last week's air strike on the country's top military commander.

Day of mourning in Ukraine following tragic plane crash in Iran

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky declared a day of national mourning on Thursday honouring the 176 victims of the plane crash in Iran on January 8. India restricts import of palm oil from Malaysia

India has officially imposed a restriction on the import of refined palm oil. Experts say this restriction will hit Malaysia hard, since the country is India's main supplier.
