Five people killed in flooding in the south of France

Two people have drowned and three rescuers been killed in a helicopter crash after flash flooding in the south of France. 

It was the second weekend in a row of very heavy rain around Marseille and Nice, meaning the water table was already saturated.

Merkel coalition shaky after SPD leadership change

UK REVIEWS TERRORIST RELEASES

An urgent review's underway in the UK into the licence conditions of convicted terrorists released before the end of their sentences.

It comes after Friday's attack on London Bridge which killed two people.

The attacker, Usman Khan, was released from prison early in 2018 after serving half his sentence for plotting a terrorist attack.

Dozens of convicted terrorists are now being vetted after Friday's incident, with a number expected to be sent back to prison.

Retired counter terror detective Scott Wilson says early releases are dangerous.

$400bn gas pipeline opened between Russia and China

A $400bn gas pipeline known as the 'Power of Siberia' is being officially launched on Monday between Russia and China.

The presidents of both countries, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, are taking part in a joint opening ceremony via videolink.

Kremlin hopes for Putin-Zelensky bilateral meeting in Paris

World famous free solo climber dies after fall in Mexico
