New US Sanctions on Russia over Chemical Attack

US President Donald Trump has imposed new sanctions on Russia over a nerve agent attack last year against a former Russian spy in Britain. 

Russia says the sanctions are regrettable.

Global Markets Drop after new Trump Tariffs

US economy adds 164,000 jobs in July, unemployment rate steady


The U.S. economy added 164,000 jobs in July, matching predictions from economists but dipping slightly from June's figures.

The unemployment rate, meanwhile, remained at 3.7%.

Indian government gets powers to designate individuals as terrorists

India's Parliament has adopted a bill that controversially allows the government to label individuals as terrorists, as opposed to organisations.


The government claims this is needed to root out terrorism- because every time a terror organisation is banned or outlawed, individuals behind those groups continue to operate with impunity.

Rwanda Re-opens its Border with DR Congo

BORIS JOHNSON SUFFERS BLOW WITH BY-ELECTION DEFEAT

Boris Johnson has suffered his first big defeat as Prime Minister, losing a by-election, just eight days since taking office.

French farmers attack offices of members of parliament

French farmers are protesting against the EU's CETA trade deal with Canada by vandalising the constituency offices of French MPs who voted to approve it.

Trump unveils fresh tariffs on China despite "constructive" talks in Shanghai

DR Congo Accuses Rwanda of Closing Border Over Ebola

Rwanda has denied claims by the Democratic Republic of Congo that it closed the border between the two countries over Ebola fears.
