BORIS JOHNSON BECOMES UK PM

Boris Johnson will become the UK's new Prime Minister later (on Wednesday).

Mrs May will visit the Queen to resign, and Mr Johnson will then be asked to form a government.

He says he can deliver Brexit by October 31st and unite the country.

The new Prime Minister will start naming cabinet members after winning the Conservative Party's contest to replace Theresa May as leader.

EU countries fail to reach agreement on redistributing asylum seekers

EU interior ministers have failed to reach agreement on a deal to allow asylum seekers to be shared out around the bloc, after Italy closed its ports to humanitarian ships. 

Only eight countries agreed to sign up to a plan at a summit in Paris - pushing an attempt to reach wider consensus to a summit planned for September in Malta.
