UK GOVERNMENT HOLD EMERGENCY MEETING OVER IRAN TANKER SEIZURE

The UK Prime Minister is to chair an emergency meeting following the Iranian seizure of a British-flagged tanker in the Gulf. 


The detainment of the Stena Impero marks escalating tensions between the UK and Iran, coming weeks after Britain helped seize a tanker carrying Iranian oil.

Europe prepares for second bout of hot weather

Several countries in Europe are preparing for another round of unseasonably hot weather.

Temperatures of up to 40 degrees celsius have been forecast for some parts of the continent.

Voting Closes on Monday In UK Conservative Party Leadership Contest

Voting in the UK's Conservative party leadership contest will close on Monday and a new British prime minister will be announced on Tuesday.


The decision on who will lead the Conservative party and the country has been placed in the hands of the party's membership. With former Foreign secretary Boris Johnson and current foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt going head to head for the position.

Under pressure from Indian government, TikTok to set-up local data centre

Beijing based company ByteDance, that owns the popular short video-sharing app TikTok, has said it will set-up a data centre in India.

With over 200 million users, India is the biggest market for TikTok however the company has come under the government's scanner over its data sharing norms.

Russian opposition figures give election authorities ultimatum

AUSTRALIA: Papua New Guinea PM wants Manus Island detention ended

Papua New Guinea has told Australia it wants a timetable to end asylum seeker processing and get all those involved off Manus Island.

India prepares for second attempt at moon mission launch

India's space agency is preparing for its second attempt to launch its latest moon mission to the lunar south pole on Monday.

The first attempt a week ago was aborted about an hour before the launch due to "a technical snag".

Ukraine's President secures parliamentary victory

The party of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has won the largest share of the vote in the country's snap parliamentary elections.

Zelensky's Servant of the People party looks set to form a governing coalition with the pro-western Voice Party.

Mr Zelensky, a former TV comedian, swept to power in April's presidential vote and immediately called for fresh parliamentary elections.

DRC Ebola Outbreak Declared a "Global Health Emergency" But Many Other Challenges Remain

Mueller Hearing will Hear Evidence of Trump's Wrongdoing, says Committee Chair

The Chairman the U.S. House Judiciary Committee chairman says this week's hearing with Robert Mueller will include "very substantial evidence" that the President broke the law.

This will be the first time that Mueller will be questioned over the contents of the 449 page report after the conclusion of his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Representative Jerrold Nadler will be chairing Wednesday's hearing and would be responsible for launching any future impeachment case.

Trump Calls on 4 Congresswomen to Apologize to America

The UK is due to outline a response later (Monday) to the seizure of a British-flagged oil tanker by Iran.

Tehran insists 'prudence and foresight' are necessary to de-escalate tensions.

The Stena Impero oil tanker was seized on Friday in the Strait of Hormuz, accused by Iran of violating international maritime rules.

It follows the seizure of an Iranian vessel off Gibraltar two weeks ago.

BRITISH MPS CALL ON EU TO PROTECT CITIZENS' RIGHTS IN NO-DEAL

DUTCH SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS SREBRENICA LIABILITY RULING

The Dutch supreme court has upheld a ruling that the Netherlands was partially responsible for 350 deaths in Bosnia's Srebrenica massacre.


The court said the state had 10% liability, as this was the probability that its soldiers could have prevented the killings.


Bosnian Serb forces killed a total of 8,000 Muslim men in the town of Srebrenica in 1995.
