Huawei's Head Admits US Sanctions Hurt; Vows to Stay Ahead of Rivals


Huawei's founder Ren Zhengfei has admitted US export curbs will cut it's lead over rivals in 5G technology but has vowed to find another way to stay ahead of the competition.

Russia defiant after tribunal ruling over Ukrainian sailors

Russia says it will continue to defend its position at a UN Maritime Tribunal which has ruled it should immediately release 24 Ukrainian sailors who have been held since November. Three Ukrainian naval vessels were seized by Russia after a stand-off in the Kerch Strait, which links the Sea of Azov to the Black Sea. Lucy Taylor reports.

Germany's Greens make big gains at European elections

Germany's Green Party is on track to win over twenty percent of the vote in the European elections, the most in the party's history.


The far-right AfD is projected to come in fourth place with just over ten percent of the vote in an election which saw increased voter turnout.

Narendra Modi wins historic mandate in India's elections

Incumbent Prime Minister Narendra Modi has swept back to power with his Bhartiya Janta Party defying all expectations to win a rare second majority term.

Any party needs 272 seats in India's Parliament to form government. Mr. Modi's party crossed the 300 mark- the first time a political outfit has won back to back majority since 1971.

UK voters head to polls amid Brexit uncertainty

UK voters are heading to the polls in European Parliament elections.

MEPs will be elected in constituencies across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The vote comes despite the fact the UK government has been trying to deliver Britain's exit from the European Union.

The failure to remove Britain from the bloc yet has contributed to the woes of Prime Minister Theresa May who may be forced to resign as early as Friday.

The newly-formed Brexit party, led by prominent anti-EU politician Nigel Farage, may win the EU elections in the UK, according to polls.
