Hong Kong activists granted asylum in Germany

Germany has confirmed that it granted asylum last year to two activists who fled the city of Hong Kong who faced rioting charges at home.


It is the first known case of of a foreign country giving refugee status to pro-democracy campaigners in the Chinese city.

India's Prime Minister expected to win second term

Early leads suggest that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hindu nationalist Bhartiya Janata Party is set to win a second term in India's elections.

Mr. Modi's party is ahead in 290 seats four hours after counting of about 600 million votes began.

Any party needs 272 seats out of 543 in India's Parliament.

UK Prime Minister Theresa May could announce her resignation on Friday, according to reports.

A senior member of her cabinet, Andrea Leadsom, quit on Wednesday over the Prime Minister's handling of Brexit.

Pressure has been growing on Mrs May to resign, to allow a new Conservative Party leader to take over Britain's exit from the EU.

New US $20 bill with anti-slavery activist delayed

A redesign of the US twenty dollar bill featuring an African american anti slavery activist has been delayed.
