According to Yonhap News, China sent several tour buses across the bridge to mark the opening.

China is North Korea's main economic benefactor.

Under international sanctions, most goods are banned from entering or exiting North Korea.

So it's unclear how the two countries plan to operate the new border checkpoint.

The opening comes amid stalled talks between North Korea and the U.S. on creating a nuclear-weapons free Korean Peninsula.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in visits Washington this week to try and convince Pres. Trump to continue talks with Kim.
