TRUMP-KIM SUMMIT COLLAPSES IN HANOI WITH NO DEAL

The Vietnam summit between President Trump and Kim Jong Un has collapsed, with no agreement.

The two countries have agreed to hold further lower level talks in the future.

President Trump says the summit ended because the US refused North Korean requests for sanctions to be dropped.

But he insists he remains on good terms with the North Korean leader despite walking away from the negotiating table.

According to local media, the new Korean Peninsula policy will focus on economic cooperation between the North and South.

Moon will announce his plan Friday, which marks the centennial of historic protests against Japanese colonial rule.

Hanoi summit success is critical to Moon's plans.

International sanctions against North Korea's weapons program keep him from economic engagement with the North.

But Moon believes Kim and Trump are moving in a direction that will lead to sanctions easing.

Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un begin talks in Hanoi

After holding a brief informal interaction and a working dinner on Wednesday, Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un have begun talks in Vietnam. This is the second meeting between the two leaders since the summit in Singapore in June last year.

Ahead of the official delegation level talks, Donald Trump seemed to temper expectation from this summit- saying that the two sides are going to have 'fantastic success' not necessarily during this summit but certainly in the long run.

Neha Poonia is reporting from Hanoi in Vietnam.

Cohen: Trump lied about Russia

US President Donald Trump's former lawyer has told Congress his boss
is a "racist", a "conman" and a "cheat" and suspects him of collusion

Cohen says Trump also continued plans to build a skyscraper in Moscow
in the run up to the 2016 election - despite denying both claims.

The President says Cohen, who is due to start a three year prison
sentence, is lying.

But the former lawyer described the President in his own words.
