US pushes UN vote on Venezuela elections

The US is urging the United Nations to vote this week on a resolution
calling for fresh elections in Venezuela.

However, UN Security Council divisions mean Russia is likely to stand
in the way.

As Cohen testifies, Trump says he has "special relationship" with Kim Jong Un

 President Trump says he and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un are making progress at the end of the first day of their summit in Vietnam.


But back in Washington, the President's former lawyer Michael Cohen is telling Congress that Donald Trump knew of plans by Wikileaks to publish documents the Russians stole from Hillary Clinton's election campaign.

TRUMP MEETS KIM IN HANOI

US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un have kicked off their summit in Hanoi.

They're due to discuss efforts to de-nuclearise the Korean peninsula, in a series of meetings on Wednesday and Thursday.

It's their second summit - after a first in Singapore last year.

Critics say there's been little meaningful progress since the last meeting.

But speaking alongside Kim Jong Un in Vietnam, President Trump insisted the two are going to be able to make progress.

Labour 'too apologetic' over antisemitism

EU court says meat from animals which haven't been stunned can't be called organic

Europe's top court has ruled that meat from animal killed without being stunned cannot be labeled as organic.

The judgment will affect Halal and Kosher meat where Muslims and Jews use ritual slaughter practices without stunning the animals.

German prosecutors consider charges after Neo-Nazi march

Video has emerged of a march in the German city of Nuremberg showing eighteen far-right extremists carrying torches at a site formerly used for Nazi rallies.

BUHARI RE-ELECTED NIGERIAN PRESIDENT

Muhammadu Buhari's been elected Nigerian President for a second term.

The country's electoral commission says he defeated his main rival, Atiku Abubakar, by nearly four million votes.

Turnout was only 35.6%, after the election had to be postponed by a week to last Saturday.

President Buhari says his administration will re-focus efforts on security, boosting the economy, and fighting corruption.

In recent days, rival parties have come together to support the dialogue between Kim and Trump.


Party leaders held hands for a friendly photo-op in Seoul and said they'll even take nonpartisan action in parliament if needed.


They hope the meeting in in Hanoi leads to a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula.


It's a rare show of unity in a country with a bold line dividing the left and right on North Korea and domestic issues.


President Moon is all-in supporting Trump's approach with Kim. And most lawmakers here seem to be behind him… for now.

The election commission says the 76-year-old defeated his main rival, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, with a margin of nearly four million votes.

Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump to meet in Hanoi

This is the second meeting between the two leaders in less than a year and expectations are that there will be some headway in the talks on the denuclearisation of North Korea.

US House votes to block Trump's emergency declaration over border wall

The US House of Representatives has taken the first step to block President Trump's national emergency declaration over building a US-Mexico border wall.
The resolution passed the Democrat-led House by a margin of 245-182.
