Streaming service Netflix has received its very first Oscar nomination
for best picture.

The 91st Academy Awards will be held at the end of February and is

EU fines MasterCard nearly $650 million

The European Commission is fining MasterCard almost 650 million US dollars for preventing competition among banks.

Lawyer of US citizen detained in Russia says he was arrested holding "state secrets"


The lawyer representing a US citizen accused of spying in Russia says his client was arrested in possession of classified material.

Italy to connect Eritrea and Ethiopia by Railway

Italy has promised to finance a feasibility study for a planned railway line project linking an Eritrean port with the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.

Ethiopia and Eritrea resumed diplomatic ties after 20 years , in 2018 and agreed to do business together.

Wales Bound Plane Missing

The French Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed Cardiff City's new forward Emiliano Sala was onbord a plane which has gone missing.


The small aircraft was heading to the Welsh capital from Nantes in France when it disappeared from radar on Monday.

Premier League Footballer's Plane Missing


A light aircraft believed to be carrying Premier League football player Emiliano Sala has gone missing after it left northern France on Monday night.

A search over where the aircraft last made contact hand been suspended for six hours overnight but has now resumed.

India's election body denies poll rigging allegations

The federal body that conducts elections in India has denied allegations made by a London based hacker that the country's electronic voting machines can be tampered with.

Ship fire breaks out in Kerch Strait near Crimea

Ten people have been killed in a fire on board two ships in the Kerch Strait.

IMF issues global growth warning

Another undisclosed missile site found in North Korea

AU postpones DRC visit

A visit by a high level delegation from the African Union to Kinsasha  scheduled for 21stJanuary has been postponed.


This follows a decision by the Democratic Republic of Congo to allow its constitutional court to declare the final results of the presidential elections held at the end of last year, contrary to African Union's request.
