US Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren has announced she's forming an exploratory committee to consider a 2020 presidential run.

The move allows Massachusetts Democrat, known for her opposition to big banks, to ramp up fundraising for her campaign.

Merkel calls for international cooperation in New Year's address

TALKS OVER ENGLISH CHANNEL MIGRANT 'CRISIS'

UK Home Secretary Sajid Javid is chairing talks in London over the growing number of migrants heading across the English channel from France in small boats.

Syrian government move into key northern city

Kurdish militia have withdrawn from the northern Syrian city of Manbij
and invited pro-government forces to enter the area.

It's the first time forces loyal to Syria's President Bashar al-Assad
have controlled this region in six years.

Manhunt continues in Vienna after church attack

Austrian authorities are still searching for two men suspected of robbing a church in Vienna and injuring five monks, one of them seriously.

POLICE IN ICELAND WAIT TO TALK TO CRASH SURVIVORS

Police in Iceland haven't been able to talk yet to injured passengers in a crash which killed three tourists.

The three British tourists - including a child - died after their vehicle crashed off a bridge.

Four other people in the car were critically injured and have been airlifted to Reykjavik.

The accident happened in Núpsvötn.

Russia tests new inter-continental missile
