Trump to leave G7 summit early

US President Donald Trump will skip most of the second day at the G7 summit this weekend, where American allies are expected to express their anger at US tariffs on steel and aluminium.

The White House says Trump will leave the meeting of the world's seven largest advanced economies on Saturday morning - well before sessions on climate change, clean energy and oceans.

Trump considering inviting Kim Jong Un to US

US President Donald Trump says he would consider inviting North Korean leader Kim Jong un to Washington, if the upcoming summit in Singapore goes well.

His remarks came during a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who was visiting the White House to discuss North Korea, ahead of the landmark meeting.

U.S. strike deal with Chinese tech giant ZTE

The U.S. Commerce Secretary has announced that a deal has been struck
between the United States and Chinese tech giant ZTE.

May under pressure over new Brexit back-stop proposal


Britain's so-called Brexit war cabinet meets Thursday with senior ministers reportedly in fierce disagreement over Prime Minister Theresa May's latest proposal to avoid a hard border between Northern Ireland and Ireland, the UK's only land border with the European Union.

BREXIT ROW THREATENS UK PM'S POSITION

UK Prime Minister Theresa May's senior ministers are meeting to discuss Brexit amid a row which has led to speculation over her leadership.

Brexit Secretary David Davis is reportedly considering resigning over Mrs May's plans for a 'backstop' to avoid a hard Irish border.

US staff evacuated from China after mystery acoustic incidents

A number of US personnel in China have been sent back to the US for further health screenings following more reports of mysterious acoustic incidents.

The evacuated Americans wored at the US Consulate in the southern city of Guangzhou. Earlier this year, a US government employee in China sustained mild brain injury after reporting "abnormal sensations of sound and pressure".

HUGE FIRE AT LONDON HOTEL

A major fire's broken out at the luxury Mandarin Oriental hotel in central London.

Huge plumes of smoke were visible for miles across the British capital - before dying down after fire crews arrived at the scene.

120 firefighters were deployed to the hotel in the Knightsbridge area of the city.

There are no reports of any casualties.

European Countries discuss camp for rejected asylum seekers in Europe

GRENFELL FIRE RESIDENT 'DID NOTHING WRONG'

The man who lived in the apartment in which the fire started that killed dozens in the Grenfell Tower disaster bears no responsibility, according to his lawyer.

The public inquiry into the fire has heard that Behailu Kebede called emergency services rapidly, and alerted flatmates and neighbours as soon as he saw smoke.

Mr Kebede was able to leave the London towerblock and saw the blaze spreading rapidly up the building.

It's thought the fire of June last year - which killed 72 people - started in a corner of his kitchen.

Behailu Kebede's lawyer told the Grenfell Inquiry his client is an important witness to what happened - but not a criminal suspect.
